Greek Baklava Recipe
A traditional Greek dessert made with layers of phyllo dough, nuts, and honey syrup.

Main Ingredients
- 1 package phyllo dough thawed
- 2 cups mixed nuts chopped
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup butter melted
Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 strip lemon peel
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Butter the bottoms and sides of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, buttering each sheet.
Mix nuts and cinnamon. Sprinkle a thin layer over the phyllo dough.
Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with about 6-8 sheets of phyllo.
Cut into diamond or square shapes using a sharp knife.
Bake for about 45 minutes until golden and crisp.
While baking, make the syrup. Boil water and sugar until sugar is melted. Add honey, vanilla, and lemon peel. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
Remove baklava from oven and immediately spoon the syrup over it. Let cool completely before serving.
