Main Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 package active dry yeast
- ½ cup powdered sugar for dusting
- 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Whisk in the egg, salt, and vanilla extract.
Gradually add in the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 2 hours.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into squares.
Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the dough squares until golden brown on both sides.
Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
