Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 package active dry yeast
- ½ cup powdered sugar for dusting
- 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk in the egg, salt, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add in the flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 2 hours.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into squares.
- Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the dough squares until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
